Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, has revoked her concert in Kigali, Rwanda, citing "conflict between Rwanda and Congo" as the reason.

The 29-year-old musician, who appears to not have the foggiest idea what life is like in Rwanda, claimed on X that she has never meant to be insensitive to real-world issues.

"So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realising that there is an ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way," Tems wrote on X on Thursday.

She added: "I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time."

There has been conflict in the Eastern DRC for a long while, and the M23 rebels are now in control of Goma. DRC accuses Rwanda of sending troops over the border and contributing to poor security in its eastern region.

However, Rwanda denies all these accusations

Rwanda's peace has been on the right track for many years, and various international organisations and other nations have lauded the country for that.

Tems was scheduled to perform at BK Arena in Kigali on 22 March as a part of her ‘Born in the Wild’ album world tour.

The “Love Me JeJe” hitmaker is set to perform in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 20 March 2025 before performing in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria.

Tems rose to fame in 2020 after collaborating with Wizkid on the song “Essence,” which, after the release of its remix version with Justin Bieber, peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

She later released other megahits, including “Me & U,” “Love Me JeJe,” and “Crazy Tings,” among others.
