Rwanda's men's national football team, on Monday evening, commenced preparations ahead of their 2025 AFCON Qualifying matches against Libya and Nigeria.

Six of 13 foreign-based players who were included in Frank Torsten Spittler's 30-player squad took part in Monday evening's training held at Amahoro Stadium training pitch along with local-based players.

Phanuel Kavita, who received his first Amavubi call-up, participated in the first training session along with Thierry Manzi, Fiacre Ntwari, Innocent Nshuti, Clement Twizere Buhake, and Steve Rubanguka, all of whom are based abroad.

Meanwhile, Jojea Kwizera and Samuel Guelette, who landed in Kigali on Monday, are anticipated to take part in Tuesday's training session.

Rwanda will take on Libya on Thursday, November 14, at Amahoro Stadium before travelling to Nigeria to face off against Super Eagles at Uyo Township Stadium four days later.

Frank Torsten's side must win both of their remaining group-stage games to guarantee a berth at the 2025 AFCON, which will take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

However, they might qualify for Africa's most prestigious tournament should they accumulate four points from both matches, depending on Benin's results.

Amavubi, who have gone 20 years without making it to the AFCON, are third in Group D of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers with five points, a point adrift of Benin and five points behind Nigeria, while Libya sit in the rock-bottom place with a point.
