Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Djibouti Police Force have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation in policing, security, and capacity building.

Signed on Wednesday, 29 January, this agreement marks a momentous step towards bolstering regional security and collaboration.

It was inked between RNP's Inspector General CG Felix Namuhoranye and the Director General of Djibouti Police Force, Col. Abdourahman Kahin.

CG Namuhoranye noted: “The most important thing is to maintain and enhance our unity of purpose, shared values, and commitment to working together to fulfil our organization’s mandate.”

IGP Namuhoranye emphasized the need to develop practical and real-time solutions to handle current security threats between EAPCCO and other regional, continental, and international organizations.

“We must become more agile, innovative, and proactive.”

This movement occurred on the sideline of the underway 26th EAPCCO Annual General Meeting, in Kigali.

The cooperation agreement predominantly focuses on fighting terrorism, drug trafficking, and other global organized crime, exchanging information and expertise, and training and capacity building.

It also aims at formalising cooperation in law enforcement and fighting cross-border security threats.

Other areas include management of maritime and river security; fighting against currency counterfeiting, proliferation of small arms and light weapons; and timely exchange of information on criminals and criminal activities.

This agreement is projected to be another step in the right direction towards bolstering regional security and collaboration against the ever-evolving international organized security challenges.
