A total of 8,068 graduated from the University of Rwanda (UR) during its 10th graduation ceremony that took place at the UR Huye stadium on Friday, 25 October.
Among the graduates, 4959 are males and 3109 are females who completed their studies from the University of Rwanda’s six colleges. Of them, 53 secured PhD degrees, 946 earned Master’s degrees, and 6657 earned Bachelor’s degrees
A total of 1663 finished their studies at the College of Science and Technology. While 2308 graduated from the College of Education, 1453 graduated from the College of Business and Economics, 1157 graduated from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences Medicine and Health Sciences), 722 graduated from the College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, and 760 graduates from the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
Of the University of Rwanda’s graduates, there are 126 that hail from different countries worldwide.
Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente, who was the guest of honour at the graduation ceremony, emphasized that he doesn’t doubt that the students who have completed their studies at the University of Rwanda have received a comprehensive education.
Dr. Ngirente urged the youth, who have graduated from UR, to prioritise the values of patriotism as it is the basis of the country’s development.
Prof. Didas Kayihura Muganga, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Rwanda, urged the graduates to strive to make the university proud.
“Education is not an individual achievement; it is a journey to satisfy many. Remember to be humble. We hope that you, as ambassadors of the University of Rwanda, will show the difference,'' said Prof. Kayihura.
“In addition to the knowledge and skills you are now equipped with, the embedded graduate attributes you gained will help you navigate smoothly into the next chapter of your lives in today’s ever-changing world,” he added.
