REG women have claimed the league championship, following their monumental 71-63 victory over APR in Friday evening's Game 4 of the best-of-seven final series to notch up a 4-0 sweep.

Destiney Philoxy Promise showed the way for Julian Martinez's side, chipping in a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, whilst Kristina Morgan King also had a double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds and 12 points.

Odile Tetero, who won her third successive league title, added 12 points, while Rosine Micomyiza and Linda Nandy Uwitonze had 10 points apiece.

APR were on the right track in the first two quarters, rounding them off with a three-point advantage, but they were outplayed in the third quarter as they trailed 49-46 at the end of it.

The two sides went toe-to-toe early in the fourth quarter, though Charles Mushumba's women crumbled in the last four minutes. REG won Game 4 with an eight-point lead to win the league title they had previously won in 2022.

Sifa Ineza scored the most points for APR as she sank 14 points, while team skipper Charlotte Umugwaneza and Feza Ebengo had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

REG's Kristina Morgan was named the playoffs Most Valuable Player (MVP) and received Rwf2 million. Brigitte Nibishaka of GS Marie Reine Rwaza received the regular season MVP award.

Xavier Byukusenge was awarded the Best Coach of the Year after spearheading GS Marie Reine Rwaza to a fourth-place finish in playoffs.
