Arnold Kwizera appointed Patriots new CEO

Arnold Kwizera has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Patriots Basketball Club, a decision that was made by the club's Board of Directors.

Alongside his appointment, Patriots also introduced a newly formed 7-member Board of Directors, which aims at bolstering the club's organisational capacity. Clement Ndamage was named as the Board of Directors Chairman.

The Board of Directors comprises Clement Ndamage, Apollo Nkunda Mugisha, Kevin Mbundu, Andrew Kulayigye, Chantal Habiyakare, Chara Itoka, and Ida Murangira Shema.

This board is expected to support Kwizera in driving the club’s mission forward. In his new role, Kwizera will oversee all aspects of the club's operations, from player development and team performance to business strategy and community outreach.

"I am honoured to join Patriots and to lead a team with strong culture and values,” said Kwizera.

“Together with the board, we have a unique opportunity to create lasting impact by elevating the profile of Patriots Basketball Club, inspiring Rwandan youth and expanding our presence both on the local and continental scene," Kwizera added.

"We believe his leadership will not only enhance the competitive standing of our team but also deepen our impact in the community, inspire the next generation of athletes, and help us build stronger partnerships both locally and internationally," Ndamage further noted.

Founded in 2014, Patriots have won four Rwanda Basketball League trophies and were the first Rwandan club that take part in the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Patriots, who signed a five-year partnership with the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) in May, have gone four years without winning the league.
