Rwanda have walked away with the silver medal at the 2024 FIBA 33 Africa 2024 in the men's category after winning five games and losing one.
The team, consisting of Olivier Turastinze, Patrick Ngabonziza, Justin Uwitonze, and Cyiza Chandelier Twizeyimana, finished second following their 22-3 thrashing defeat to the hosts Madagascar in the final on Sunday.
Moise Mutokambari's boys had beaten the Central African Republic, Kenya, Egypt, and Algeria on the way to the semi-finals at the three-day tournament that took place in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
They outclassed Benin 21-14 in the semi-finals on Sunday morning, though fell short of Madagascar in the final.
Turatsinze Olivier stole the limelight at the competition, scoring the third-best points, and he was named to the Team of the Tournament.
He registered 49 points, averaging 8.2 points per game.
In the women's category, Rwanda finished fifth after winning one of their three games – a 21-9 victory over Comoros.
A 3x3 basketball game is a basketball game where a team consists of four players, three players on the court and one substitute. The game is played on a half-court, on one basket, in one 10 minutes of playing time.
