APR and Police played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in a week-12 clash of Rwanda Premier League held at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Mamadou Sy had an opportunity to put APR in front from the penalty spot late in the first half, but Police goalkeeper Onesme Rukundo stopped his awful shot.
Aliou Souane's header cancelled out Abedi Bigirimana's early effort as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Police started the first half quickly and had the upper hand throughout the first 20 minutes of the game.
Abedi Bigirimana opened the scoring with a brilliant finish from close range in the 10th minute after Peter Agblevor squared for him.
Aliou Souane equalised for APR in the 23rd minute when he headed home from Jean Bosco Ruboneka's corner kick. From then on, APR gained the dominance, creating multiple chances but failing to take the lead.
In the 45th minute, Mamadou Sy had a chance to gave the title holder a lead from the spot, after Police captain Eric Nsabimana pushed Olivier Dushimimana in the box. However, the Mauritanian striker missed the penalty and was later replaced by Chidiebere Nwobodo at half-time.
Darko Novic's side got off to a great second-half start, and Dushimimana had a one-on-one opportunity 12 minutes into the second half, but Samuel Ndizeye obstructed him.
Peter Agblevor squandered chances on two occasions, blazing his long-range shots over, and he was subbed by Elijah Ani in the 73rd minute.
Just seconds on the field, the Nigerian striker was unable to capitalise on Pavelh Ndzila's mistake and score after APR goalkeeper failed to keep out the ball despite getting a hand on it.
In 88th minute, Bigirimana thought he bagged a brace and handed his side a victory after turning Elijah Ani's cross into the back of the net. However, the Burundian midfielder saw his effort disallowed for offside.
APR stayed in fifth spot with 18 points from nine league games, while Vincent Mashami's team are fourth with 19 points from 12 matches.
