APR have forfeited their game against Gorilla that was held at Kigali Pele Stadium due to violating the rule that regulates the maximum number of foreign players allowed to feature in the Rwanda Premier League.
The league title holder breached the rule during their scoreless draw against Gorilla on Sunday, 3 November, when they played with seven foreign players in the second half although the rule allowed only six.
Gorilla immediately submitted a complaint to Rwanda’s football federation (FERWAFA) after the game, requesting that APR be accountable for exceeding the foreign player limit.
François Kirasa’s team were awarded a 3-0 win as FERWAFA affirmed in their announcement issued on 6 November.
FERWAFA have also fined APR Rwf100,000.
Gorilla have gone top of the league table with 18 points from nine matches played after the forfeit, whilst APR dropped to 15th spot with four points from three matches.
After committing this malpractice, the Rwanda military-owned side have begun to punish some of their officials such as Team Manager Eric Ntazinda, who was suspended on Tuesday.
