Mamadou Sy bagged a brace to inspire APR to a huge 2-0 victory over Vision in a Day 9 contest of the Rwanda Premier League, held at Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday evening.

Two penalty goals from the Mauritanian striker helped the title holder move up to 13th position in the league table with seven points after four matches.

Darko Novic's side came into the game after being forfeited due to breaching the rule regulating the maximum number of foreign players allowed to feature in a Rwanda Premier League match during their scoreless draw against Gorilla on Sunday, 3 November.

Meanwhile, Abdul Mbarushimana took charge of his first game at Vision after being appointed midweek.

Mamadou put the title holder ahead in the 12th minute from the spot, sending Vision goalkeeper James Bienvenue the wrong way to register his first league goal, following Faustin Ndikumana's handball in the area.

Stephen Bonney of Vision tripped Jean Gilbert Byiringiro in the box just four minutes into the second half, and match official Eric Dushimimana pointed to the penalty spot. Mamadou converted the penalty to double the lead, ensuring the visitors snatch a second league triumph.

"We had some obstacles and problems because of the short time between the matches after the national team, and we didn't spend more time together with our players, but we used the last three or four days to compose and be compact," APR head coach Darko Novic told the media after the game.

"We are under pressure because we are a lot of matches behind the rest of the teams; some of them have already played nine, while we have only played four, but our players have character and that's it."

APR will return to league action on Sunday, 10 November, taking on Rutsiro at Kigali Pele Stadium at 3 p.m. Kigali time in a rescheduled Day 1 fixture.
