Rayon Sports faced a setback in their quest for the Rwanda Premier League title as they were shockingly defeated by Mukura 1-0 at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday night.
Robertinho's side were aware before the game that they would extend their lead at the top of the league table to seven points with a victory over the Huye district-based team.
However, Samson Oladosu's screamer propelled Mukura to a 1-0 big win as Lotfi Afhamia's side became the only team that have beaten Rayon Sports this season, having also defeated Robertinho's men in the first phase in January.
Rayon Sports got off to an impressive start and outdid the visitors in ball possession.
Abeddy Biramahire thought he gave Rayon Sports a lead in the 32nd minute, but the goal was disallowed after a short discussion between match official Jean Claude Ishimwe and assistant referee Juliette Akimana because Abdul Rahman Rukundo used his arm to assist the ball.
Mukura managed to keep the home side at bay until they broke the stalemate, and it was their January signing who stepped up.
Hadji Iraguha of Rayon Sports lost the possession to Agyenim Mensah, and the Ghanaian forward dribbled past Roger Kanamugire before squaring for Samson Oladosu, who unleashed a wonderful long-range strike in the 74th minute to hand Mukura a huge triumph at Amahoro Stadium.
Mukura moved up to the fifth spot in the league table levelling with the fourth-placed, Gorilla, on 33 points, with Lotfi Afhamia's team having a game in hand.
Rayon Sports stayed at the top of the league table with 46 points from 22 games, four points ahead of APR, who will their matchday 22 fixture on Sunday, and this was their second loss of the season.
This Rayon's defeat might prove to be a damaging blow for them in the league title race if APR win against Vision on Sunday as the gap at the top will be reduced to one point.
