Rafael York has signed a two-year-and-a-half contract with Zed FC, an Egyptian Premier League side, as a free agent, marking his first time plying his trade to African football.
The 25-year-old forward spent the previous two seasons with Gefle IF before leaving the Gävle-based outfit, following their relegation to the third tier of the Swedish football system.
"I am so excited to start to play for Zed FC, let's go," said York.
Born in Gävle, Sweden, York has nearly just spent his football career in Sweden as this is his first time playing in Africa.
The Rwandan international hopes to resuscitate his career while also bolstering Zed, who are currently 12th in the Egyptian Premier League table with 14 points, 12 points behind league leaders Al Ahly.
York wants to get back on track and ensure that he earns Rwanda's national football team call-up again after being omitted for more than a year by Frank Torsten Spittler, who recently parted ways with Amavubi.
Rwanda take on Nigeria and Lesotho at Amahoro Stadium in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on 17 and 24 March.
