Rayon Sports have gone four points clear at the top of the Rwanda Premier League after defeating AS Kigali 2-1 on Saturday night at Kigali Pele Stadium.

Robertinho's powerhouse had to fight back from one goal down with their goals in the second half, which saw them strike a possibly decisive blow in the league's title race.

Shabani Mbarushimana's away team went ahead through Emmanuel Okwi in the 26th minute – with the Ugandan international forward chipping the ball past Rayon Sports goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye.

Substitute Roger Kanamugire equalised for the home team in the 64th minute with a header following Kevin Muhire's corner kick, bringing the skipper's assist tally to 12.

AS Kigali were outsmarted by Robertinho's men in the second half, and the situation became worse for the visitors in the 73rd minute of the game when Abeddy Biramahire put his side in front, lobbing the ball over AS Kigali shot-stopper Pascal Niyonkuru.

The Rwandan attacker, who has been filling in for the injured Fall Ngagne, registered his first goal in the league and his third one of the season as Rayon Sports completed a huge comeback and an important victory in the title race.

Rayon Sports climbed to 46 points at the top of the league standings from 21 matches, four points ahead of APR, who lost two points on Friday evening.

AS Kigali stayed in fourth place, levelling on 33 points with Gorilla, who are third in the league table.
