Rayon Sports have gone six points clear at the top of the Rwanda Premier League table, following their 2-1 triumph over Kiyovu Sports on Saturday evening at Kigali Pele Stadium.

Fall Ngagne and Hadji Iraguha's goals sealed the win and brought back a smile at Rayon Sports, who had a slow start to the second phase of the league, drawing 2-2 against Musanze on 9 February.

Meanwhile, a goal from Kiyovu Sports skipper Mosengo Tonsele in the first half proved fruitless as Lomami Marcel's side stayed at the bottom spot in the standings with just 12 points from 17 games

It was Ngagne, a brace hero in Rayon's 2-2 draw against Musanze last weekend, who put the visitors ahead again, this time with a superb finish from inside the box in the 25th minute to mark his 12th goal of the season.

The Senegalese striker received the ball inside the box from Kevin Muhire, dropped his shoulder, and directly fired into the net.

Mosengo Tonsele levelled in the 35th minute after the Congolese forward cut inside the box from the left side, dribbled past Youssou Diagne, and placed the ball adroitly into the bottom left corner of the net as the rivalries went to the break with a 1-1 deadlock.

Both sides went toe to toe in the first minutes of the second half, though the hosts had the upper hand.

However, Robertinho's men regained the dominance after two adjustments, with Hadji Iraguha replacing Aziz Bassane and Abdul Rahman Rukundo replacing Fiston Ishimwe in the 60s minutes.

Iraguha put Rayon Sports in the lead again in the 68th minute, mere minutes after he came on, with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, a that goal proved to be the winner.

With the win, Rayon Sports have now registered 12 victories and sit on 40 points after 17 league matches.
